ReTV Stakeholder Meeeting

ReTV consortium partners will host the first ReTV Stakeholder Meeting on 15 October in Potsdam, Germany. ReTV is developing novel tools for broadcasters, advertisers and media archives. An essential part of our work is iterative consultation with industry partners and the research community to ensure that ReTV tools help them achieve the desired impact. For this reason, we established ReTV Stakeholder Forum - a community of industry representatives and researches who bring their expertise to guide the outcomes of our research. During the first ReTV Stakeholder Meeting, ReTV partners will present their technological achievements. Participants will have an opportunity to test the ReTV prototypes for news media monitoring, video content adaptation and publication online and delivery of personalised content. AI4TV 2019: 1st International Workshop on AI for Smart TV Content Production, Access and Delivery

ReTV has joined forced with MeMAD project partners to host AI4TV - the first international workshop on AI for smart TV content production, access and delivery. The workshop is co-located with the 27th ACM International Conference on Multimedia. Technological developments in comprehensive video understanding – detecting and identifying visual elements of a scene, combined with audio understanding (music, speech), as well as aligned with textual information such as captions, subtitles, etc. – have been undergoing a significant revolution during recent years. New scientific breakthroughs in video understanding through the application of AI techniques along with the increase in the volume of multimedia content and more computational power have led to significant improvements in automated video description and have opened fresh avenues for the seamless combination of multiple modalities’ analysis. The workshop aims to bring together experts from academia and industry in order to discuss the latest research progress in topics related to multimodal information analysis, and in particular, semantic analysis of video, audio, and textual information for smart digital TV content production, access and delivery. FIAT/IFTA World Conference 2019

The ReTV partners are delighted to be presenting at the FIAT/IFTA World Conference 2019 which will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia on 22-25 October. Vasileios Mezaris (CERTH) and Johan Oomen (NISV) will give a presentation titled "Implementing AI strategies for content annotation and publication online". About the Event The title of this year's FIAT/IFTA conference is “Champions of Value and Trust. AV Archives in the all-media world.” It reflects excellently what is at stake today at the crossroads of content and rights management, media archiving, storytelling, audiovisual preservation and artificial intelligence. With a 500 year history of diplomacy and a strong independent identity, the city of Dubrovnik is steeped in a heritage which has been a foundation of knowledge and culture for centuries. Audiovisual archives form the essential link between past and future in our media world and will bring the knowledge, cultural value and latest thinking to the fore. The beautifully restored medieval city of Dubrovnik is an ideal setting in which to debate and examine these latest new challenges and possibilities. AMIA 2019

We are crossing the big pond to present ReTV results at the AMIA 2019 Conference in Baltimore, the United States. The Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) is the world’s largest international association of professional media archivists. The conference provides a forum to address the best ways to preserve and provide access to our media heritage. ReTV will take part in the panel "Open Sourcing Online Video Distribution Technologies" (9:30-10:30, 15 November). We will present how ReTV technologies for media monitoring and video analysis that help media archives repurpose their content and bring it to contemporary audiences. See the full programme here.

MMM2020: International Conference on Multimedia Modeling

We are pleased to confirm that ReTV consortium partner CERTH will present their research at the 26th International Conference on Multimedia Modeling. We will present two papers on unsupervised video summarisation and deep network training for multimedia classification. Full conference programme.
