ICME 2020: IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo

We are pleased to inform that ReTV partners will participate at the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) which will take place in London. Vasileios Mezaris (CERTH) and Lyndon Nixon (MODUL Technology) will give a tutorial on “Video summarization and Re-use Technologies and Tools”.  The tutorial aims to provide an overview of the main technologies that enable the automatic generation of video summaries for re-use in different distribution channels and the optimisation of the video summary-based reach and engagement of the audience. About the event ICME is a flagship multimedia conference that promotes the exchange of the latest advances in multimedia technologies, systems, and applications from both the research and development perspectives of the circuits and systems, communications, computer, and signal processing communities.  In response to COVID-19 measures and widespread travel constraints, IEEE ICME 2020 will now be re-envisioned as a fully virtual event and registration is free for everyone! TPDL 24th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries

We are happy to announce that ReTV partners will present a paper on “Online News Monitoring for Enhanced Reuse of Audiovisual Archives” in the upcoming 24th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries. TPDL 2020 will be held online on August 25 to 27. Participants to the workshops, doctoral consortium and/or conferences not presenting a talk will be able to register for free. About the Conference The European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries (ECDL) has been the leading European scientific forum on digital libraries for 14 years. From the 15th edition on 2011 the conference has a new name: International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries. AI4TV 2020 – 2ND International Workshop on AI for Smart TV Content Production, Access and Delivery

This workshop follows the very successful first edition of AI4TV that took place at ACM Multimedia 2019 in Nice (France). It aims to bring together experts from academia and industry in order to discuss the latest research progresses on topics related to multimodal information analysis, and in particular, semantic analysis of video, audio, and textual information for intelligent digital TV content production, compliance, access and delivery. The workshop is organized in conjunction with the 28th ACM International Conference on Multimedia (ACM). This year, due to COVID-19 and potential travel restrictions, AI4TV 2020 will take place as a virtual workshop. Find out more about the event here

DataTV2020 Webinar

DataTV2020 is a free online webinar bringing together experts in the field of (meta)data and television from academia and industry to share the latest state of the art and innovations in this field. The event follows the success of the DataTV workshop organised during the ACM TVX 2019 conference.   The event programme will include talks from invited speakers on the following topics: Automatic extraction of (meta)data from TV media assets (visual, audial and/or textual features) and data interoperability with low-level feature data (e.g. MPEG-7) and high-level semantics (e.g. Knowledge Graphs) Use of extracted metadata (and its interoperability with external data) in automatic summarization, remixing or repurposing of TV media assets Use of extracted metadata (and its interoperability with external data) in in-stream personalisation of TV content (both spatial and temporal modification of text, audio, video) Use of extracted metadata (and its interoperability with external data) in the recommendation and scheduling of TV content on different channels and targeting different audiences Opportunities for participants to contribute will be given by an open call for lightning talks and an open discussion at the end of the event. I\V/A\V: Informal Virtual Audio Visual Summit

We are happy to announce that our partner Rasa Bočytė from the  Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, will give a ReTV supported presentation titled "Trending archives: Reusing large-scale audiovisual collections on social media". She will present at the Informal audiovisual Summit Agenda by the Library of Congress. About the event The Library of Congress convened an informal virtual summit to share ongoing work at the Library to improve access to held sound and moving image material, and to learn from the wider community of A/V practitioners and users. The summit will feature four thematic sessions: LC Share Out, Accessibility for All, A/V Makerspace, and Notes from the Field.   Join us!
